WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND JOHN

Dear John (that sounds funny) I have a car port 12` 8" wide by 21` 10" long by 8`8"
high. I would like to have a control room and a live room
as big as possible. 70% of my stuff is direct but do record
a small trap set and guitars,bass,vocals.I dont know wheather length or width is better in the control room
but the emphasis should be on having a very even mix area.
I would like to take the time to thank you,even if you do not reply, for what you are doing to help so many people.It is a very confusing world if you do not know what you are doing (studio wise). And you have taken time to share your knowledge. thank You.

WHITE BARRY WHITE (Luv it!!) Yes you can build what you want in that size room. The control room should be longer than wider. i.e. the distance from front to back should be longer, otherwise there are tooo many early rear wall reflections coming back.

Something along the lines of the Garage Studio 2 perhaps?

I agree I like that plan. Cannot have side entrance,
must be at one end connected to house. how would you divy up the space to have the best possible mixing environment.

I'd make the control room as long as I can - I'd avoid 12' as it's a multiple of your width, maybe 14' with a 7' booth. Make sure your door to the house enters the control room - there's nothing more annoying than having to go through the studio to get to the control room eh.
