Excell Studios is on a distinguished road
I need help with designing my studio!

Hi, I just recieved a barn/shed that I was told could be renovated into a studio.
I just wanted to know what software you guys use to do that kind of stuff, and if you could help me with your input on how to layout the area.
I atleast need a controll room and drum/multi purpose room.
I think ill have enough room in my basement to put in my vocal booth so I dont have to worry about that now.

The dimentions are 12' x 22' and the height is atleast 8' (im not sure exactly)

I know the area is small but if I could pull this off I would be very excited.
Thanx for the input! Cant wait to hear what comes back.

I wouldn't divide that space into two or more smaller spaces. Those dimensions are MINIMUM for a good control room. And frankly, to build a wall between a small control room and drum booth that has enough transmission loss where you can monitor the sound of the drum over the monitors without hearing the live drums, I can guarantee the wall will take up at least 16" minimum....and thats not even taking other flanking paths(floor, ceiling, exterior walls) into consideration. And then you still have ventilation and other problems to solve.

I think about the only division of space I would consider is possibly making a "quiet room" for your computer and noisey power amps so that you have it quieter in the main room.

The hard part is making it ventilated without adding MORE noise to the room. (kinda defeats the purpose)

Those are both great ideas that will help me out! Thank You ,I like the idea of isolating my pc and will probly instead of creating a new room maybee making like a half close like a mini-fridge incloser with plexiglass on the exterior and sound insulation inside.
I like the idea of large space between the rooms what should I put in the middle? and how much will it cost (I need as cheap as possible).
