Recommendations?

Well, I've been creating beats with strictly my computer, no hardware involved. But, I do have a keyboard up in my closet that would make things so much easier. So, I'm looking to buy a MIDI2USB Cable, since I don't have a MIDI input on my laptop. So, I was looking around and I've noticed they run around $50.00 is that normal for them?

Am I looking in the wrong area's?

Is there a brand preference for cables of such, that I should be looking out for?

How much do you think I should really put out to get great quality sound, when in reality from MIDI 2 USB is the same as MIDI out to MIDI in, just transfered the data differently. Same result, so answers and any comments are welcome.

Well, I was thinking of those but then I realized how incredibly expensive they are, I can't afford $50.00 I'm more in the range of $10/20ish. So, I was looking at this MIDI 2 MPU401 Cable, it's about 14 bucks, and it outputs a better quality that any USB would.. I'm not sure why, mainly because USB isn't a standard MIDI output.. Would you recommend the USB over the MPU401 (AKA Joystick plug-in)? or am I in the right direction, or do you want to lend me some money to get the usb one
