Ok, so I'm just getting started, and I know that neither of these is a REAL soundcard for recording, but for anyone like me out there, can you tell me if there is any real difference for someone like me who wants to record and mix a few tracks of mostly accoustic music (vocals, accoustic guitar, maybe dulcimer)?

I've checked and compared and compared and checked and I can't see any real difference except that SB has a digital line out and comes with some better intro recording software. Both are PCI cards, 1024 voices, support directsound. The SB costs 80 bucks and the Guillemot 30 bucks.

While I'm askin', when I put the new card in, I think I need to disable the onboard audio (darn integrated motherboard) in the BIOS setup. Does that mean I need to hook up the CD-ROM and anything else up to the new one?

Appreciate your words of wisdom,

Peace,
Luke
