Wireless headphones?
Is there any reason i cant use these as a matter of convenience, just for monitoring when recording? Not for actual mixing etc obviously. One less cable to get cought up in.

I found a great pair of wireless cans, Senn open rs-130 or closed rs-140, that I use often for relaxing or working out. You can read my review here--the second one by J. Hanson:
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-RS-...&s=electronics As much as I like them, though, I never use them in my studio. The sound is surprisingly good, but the volume and hiss come and go at times, depending on the interference nearby. For any type of critical listening, I'd find them frustrating. They might be worth a try if you have high a tolerance level. Good luck, J. |

Just remember that the 140s are closed cans, which provide some helpful isolation, but I actually prefer the more open (smoother) sound of the 130s, which provide almost no isolation at all.

I went through 2 pair of RF wireless headsets and couldn't tolerate the interference and other noises. I'd get close to my computer monitor and they'd noise up or pick up other weird signals from time to time. I went with infrared. Totally line of sight but way quieter if you have RFI potential.
I'm using the Sony MDR-DS3000 unit. I wouldn't use them for mixing or anything critical like that but for detail listening or practicing late at night...I like 'em and like you, hate getting tangled in cords when sitting with my POD late at night just practicing or noodling. Get up, move around and no lanyard to yank you back ![]()
