other than hip hop?

any of you guys work on things other than hip hop? like techno or sumthing, im thinking of extending my field of production to othe rthings as well such as reggae, acid jazz and techno (not the gay shit but the dj shadow and dj kicks kinda stuff)...any1 have nay good advice or anys ited whcih have good info on musical styles?

Advice: Listen to what sounds good, not what people act like is good... Practice your ability to pull out the influences in whatever you are listening to.. And pay attention to ALL drum patterns... Sit down at a drum kit and properly assign each piece to a part of your body (kick drum, hi hat, snare, etc)....

More than anything, PAY ATTENTION to what you are hearing and how it makes you feel...

yup, I always am tracking bands, R&B singers, etc. Tried to make a techno track one day, and that shit was hard for me... compared to all the big named DJ's out there. I tried it with Paul's help (Oakenfold) & DJ Kajmere. This is the music business. The money is everywhere. That's one reason I changed the name from Shotup Records (gangsta rap label) to Mindset Entertainment to be able to cross the boundary's and do all types of music

Cool, thanx, i actaully dont make music for money, i just do it as a hobby, and i don't expect money from, but ill try, most drum patterns are simple, its just hard to get the groove right

I've recorded (played and tracked) rock and some reggae, but that was when I was living in a place much more suitable to recording drums and LOUD. Now my neighbors aren't as quiet (used to live in a cemetery). Just started getting into making beats recently...always been a student of hiphop, rock, jazz, r&b, reggae, really anything except country music. Only really tried my hand at rock, reggae, and hiphop though.
