Battery powered DC plugs.
I am trying to make a mobile setup for video, but I need a preamp that runs on batteries. If I picked up one of those little ART, Rolls, or Behringer pres that take DC adapters for power, is there some kind of battery pack that feeds a DC plug that I could run these things from? Basically, a wall wart that runs on batteries instead of AC power.

You'll need to do a little math but you might get away with a UPS. You can find them at Best Buy or CompUSA. They come in different sizes and can be fairly portable.
Something like this maybe http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1157067061643 or like this; http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...k_UPS_1500_UPS or a little bigger; http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...PS_XS_1500_UPS If you shop around I'm sure you can find better prices...just bone up on the specs...some companies make it hard to compare apples to apples. Good luck!

Ok, let me ask you this. You many 9v's would I need to power a 700ma 9v unit for say, an hour?

![]() Edit: As I recall, my Boss DD3 digital delay stomp pedal draws about 350mA and it will suck the life out of a new 9V battery in about 2 hours. The more 9V batteries you wire in parallel, the more life you'll get out of them. I should be easy enough to do a couple of trials for you to see how far you can get. |

Hmmm, so maybe, say 4 or 5 at a time should do it? I guess the only way to find out is to try. Psh, math.

Yeah, that'll probably do it.
If this is something that you plan on doing a lot, you could buy rechargeable batteries. They cost more up front but will save you $$$ in the long run.

So let me just make sure, I can never have too many batteries? Am I correct in understanding that the unit will only draw as much as it needs?
