To Lava or not to Lava?

Freudian Slip, a user of these boards is ranting and raving that "being on the Lava" is a sickness that needs a 12 step program, my mixes only get better as I add Lava lamps, glitter ones add that sheen that is missing, red ones add warmth, and if you mix up how many colors you of Lava lamps you get; there won't be a build up of to much of one color. Some may only need two Lava lamps, some may need 10 or more to see a real difference in their mixes.

So the question before the jury to Lava or not to Lava?

I have my lava lamp on the left side of me when I'm mixing. I think it evens out the stereo image because I tend to pan too much shit to the right.

I don't have any lamps, but I had one before. I can mix better now. Of course that could be from learning new things and getting better equipment...

naah it has to be that I don't have my lava lamp anymore I was always this good, just impeded by the lava...

Let it flow

It's really weird, but since installing a professional Lava Lamp in my studio, my recordings have improved dramatically. I feel like I'm in a special cult or something.

It depends

on whether you're a lava person or not.

Just like some people are dog people, some people are cat people.

I like to go with the flow.

I lost count. Different types for different music. I use them, especially the glitter ones, for primary lighting. Maximum effect.

I've got one that's about 2 1/2 - 3 feet tall. It takes forever to warm up, but when it does, a family of Estonians could heat their house with it.

....

The vintage ones are a little warmer, with more color than the new ones, but the newer ones seem alot clearer.

I'd put those 80's Japanese lavas up against any of the new made in USA crap.

I couldn't complete the poll, because you didn't give me the option for the true answer- one and only one. Essential for mixing in mono- the "wall of lava". It's the American way. One God, one woman, one lava lamp, whether it's red, white, or blue.-Richie
