How do I go about concealing cables?

How do I go about not having my cables running from my drumset which is on one side of my room to my mixer which is on the other. IS there like a xlr box I put it into which can run into a main chord which splits into many xlrs soo it doesnt look all disorginized?

Yes, it's called a snake (or snake box). Decent ones aren't cheap, and really good ones are even less cheap!

EDIT: Damn you, Myriad Rocker! You must have a high speed ISP!

Snakes are old school...you need a half dozen of these http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...tem?sku=276525

Sorry, couldn't help myself. A snake is handy. I assume it's for a live set up. If so, you'll want to get something decent. The cheapies use low quality cable and connectors. They won't last long on the road.

I've been found out .

Didn't ya notice my second sentence? Yup...I've got 'em and couldn't live with out them. For the "ultra-slick" set up, I've got snake cables running in conduit between the walls going to the big room, another going to the drum room and one to the vocal booth. These things are a must have in my book. Other wise you'd be tangled up all the time, damaging stuff but you've already figured out the reasons why to have them.

Like I said, don't skimp if this is for a road crew. If you're gentle and take good care of your stuff and you're just looking at light homestudio work, the cheaper units might serve you well. At least look for rebuildable connectors, that way if one goes intermittent, you can repair/resolder. Some of the ultra cheapies don't allow for disassembly of the connector and to fix it, you cut the thing off, go shopping and your cable gets a little shorter every time. Oh, and look for soldered connectors. Some real cheap stuff they crimp the connector instead of soldering it.

Hope this helps...sorry for the goof but, that's just the way I am but you gotta admit, it would look pretty damn impressive to have a couple dozen wireless mics set up. Imagine all the antennas set up in the rack...it would look like a porcupine or an antenna farm. Chicks would draw to you like wasps to Kentucky Fried Chicken at a picnic

I was gonna say these things are awsome im getting one no matter what .

EDIT: I NO WHY I DIDNT GET THE JOKE!! I didnt click the link! lolololol Now I get it. Good one.

And its not for a live setup its for studio use. like I said its for my room in my first thread soo im gonna get a decent cheapy. I think ebay has this 40 dollar one that people have given the guy good feedback soo I dont really care if I lose 40 bucks and its worth it if it is good.

I use some of their molded connector 1/4" snakes, and some of their mic cables, mic cables connectors can come apart and they do use solder, looks like their XLR to XLR snakes use the same connectors. If you go to their site I think they have cheaper prices then what they have on ebay, and if you buy $100 of cables shipping is free. Load up on some of their 10 and 20 foot mic cables to bring you up to $100 if you need to.

If you get a snake don't forget to oil it. There's a special oil that keeps the outer covering from cracking. Ive got some extra if you want to buy it. It's not cheap though.

Whirlwind makes nice snakes, but you pay.

For a really advanced look, you can build the snake into the wall and have it act like an outlet. All the wires go through the wall for less clutter.
