Question

I have a recorded track (playback via TDIF on my TASCAM TM-D1000) I want to process externally with the RNC compressors. I have assigned the track to the aux/group buss. How do I return that signal to another (unused) channel to then monitor and re-record? I tried to just run a cable from the aux/group buss out into the unused channel, but I get no audio. Can someone help? Are there internal settings that I'm overlooking? The TMD's inserts do not work when using a digital return path (TDIF), so I'm trying to get the compression & audio signal together the hard way. Any help or other options is much appreciated. Thanks!

You need to send you signal to the RNC via an auxillary send - i.e. 3/4 or 5/6 and then return the signal from the RNC back into the auxillary returns. You will need to deselect the track from the L/R Mix buss so you only hear the aux return signal which is assigned to the L/R Mix output buss.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Smile Thanks John.

Thank you for your reply, John. I did finally get it to work with the TRS insert input routing, but you've given me yet another option, thanks. I checked out your site a couple weeks ago... very impressive!
