MSH-4 questions for mshilarious

Last night I recorded a new song. There are two different acoustics on it and each one was mic'ed with my MSH-4. http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?fid=5995

One thing I noticed, though, is while moving the mic around it would sometimes produce a high-pitched tone akin to feedback. It only lasted a few seconds but it happened more than once. Is that normal?

Next question - has the MSH-4 been discontinued? I don't see it on your website anymore.

I emailed them a week ago about the same thing, the discontinued question. They said their parts were out of stock until the new year. I'll have to wait for mine.

That sound is microphonics, when the tube is bumped it rings a bit. It's normal for these tubes, especially in the weensy cases I stick them in. AT uses an internal shockmount to hold the tube, but if you whack the AT3060 good, it rings a little too.

There is nothing on my site right now as I am closed for the holidays

Ah, well that explains the noise.

But thanks to Google I was able to look at the mic page, and the MSH-4 is absent. So you didn't really answer my second question, now did you?

Cool. I plan to recommend it. It's a very good mic IMO.

I think the mic has personality in a musical sense. Quirks too, but hey, don't we all.

I lent one of my MSH-4 to a local rap/hiphop group so they could record their rehearsals for their live show. They FREAKED over what the mic easily gave them.
