TRS pin assignments?

Can someone please refresh my memory - foir a TRS connector, which pin is hot, which is cold, and which is ground? It's been a little while and I am drawing a total blank. I need to know cause I need to make TRS to XLR cables (otherwise I'd just make sure same color wire gets connected to the same pins on both ends).

Thanks!!!!

Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays!

It can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer so always check their documentation when you can. But convententional wisdom is for an XLR;
pin #1= Shield
pin #2= hot or +
pin #3= return or -
On the 1/4";
tip= hot or+
ring= return or -
shield is shield
Again a warning on the pin out of these connectors, especially the XLRs. Pin #1 is always shield but some folks swap 2 and 3.

Ah, thanks, I have the docs for the neutrik XLR connectors, but I found no such docs for the 1/4. That's what I seem to remeber... thanks for the info!
