Some lyrics...

Finish up the whiskey, boys, and break my heart with one more bottle of wine.
For the best of friends must part, and now my time has come to walk that line.

Gather 'round the gallows, before my soul is swung into eternity.
For the best of friends must part, and now my time has come and so must we.

Lift the lid on that piano, boys, and play twelve black bars as my last farewell.
For the best of friends must part, and now my time has come I'll see you in hell.

Very nice, with strong imagery.

Should the word "boys" also appear in the first line of the second verse?

Would be nice to hear the music for it.

When it is written it looks like it should appear, but whatever way I sing 'gallows' and 'before', I just can't fit it in. I think it sounds better without it, but I might try to re-jig it slightly when I record it.

I'm working on it over the Christmas break. Its a minor chord kind of blues progression, in C-minor. I'm thinking of using a ukulele and maybe a lapsteel or an e-bow for a nice drone in the background. I'll probably post it when it's done.

I never left them! Nothing like singing about death to make a man happy.

I can't afford one at the moment, and I can't quite figure out how to make one. I've tried, but cutting that maple wheel dead circular is impossible.

Real interesting lyrics. As indicated, allows for imagery.

Good work!
