I checked out your tunes on your website. You're right...that music is hard to classify as any specific genre. The only thing that comes to mind to me is a bit of an oxymoron..."Acoustic Rock"...but that doesn't make any sense.

i've been told we're sort of soundtracky, whatever that means.

i appreciate the comments. It seems though that we're the only ones that would be able to do anything with those songs. so that's what we'll do

actually, we're beginning work on re-recording some demos for the next CD. i'll put samples up as they come.

I've heard songs similar to that before...just can't remember the group or the song name. It's hard to put my finger on, but I know I've heard it.

It doesn't sound "soundtracky" to me. Maybe something along the lines of "Runaway Train" from Soul Asylum (without the raspy voice), but I don't know.

It's defintely a "change" as far as sounds go.

I believe it was "My Love", the one labeled "My Love Rough Tracking".

"Sounds" -- guitar has kind of a "Norwegian Wood" feel to it...

"Monday" -- very interesting. Very interesting instrumentation.

"Johnny Walker" the guitar has kind of a Neil Young "Heart of Gold" feel to it.

The last one sounds like something I heard on Garth Brooks' "Chris Gaines Greatest Hits" CD (despite what most folks say, I think it's a pretty good CD).

Yeah, but you have to take into consideration the money you're going to be spending on CD duplication, artwork, and so forth.

I'm sure there's a market for your music. I'm just not exactly sure how you'd classify it. I suppose what you could do is go down to Barnes & Noble, or Borders, or some other music store, and try to find something that sounds similar, and see what genre it's under.

Well, on some songs, i think we sound like classic rock ish. on other we sound folkish, on others acoustic rock.

I would only be able to define our style by referring to other bands/artists.

i guess i'd have to call it acoustofolkrocknbeatles

I'd agree with your first sentence about classifying your own music, and your interpretation of your music.

actually, in the homphobic post, there is a subtheme going on about whether the artists defines the intent of the piece and the audience defines the interpretation.

I think that the artist creates it and has in mind a general intent. But once it's out, it's fair game.

A very good interpretation! Never did think of it that way. You're right. Only the folks who listen to your music can define it. That being said, I doubt that someone could put out a "folk" album and have someone classify it as "acoustic metal".

I'm actually re-tooling my album. I'm just going to make it all-acoustic. Just me and my guitar. I'm going to call it "country", but like you said, people will define it as they will.

yeah i think you did

i've always liked to hear the stripped down, guy and guitar version of more produced pieces.

There are times with our songs where we're three sessions into it, and we;ve got 8 or 9 tracks, and we throw it away and do acoustic and vocals. i enjoy that a lot

Well I had to listen to 'Sounds' after mjr said it had a Norwegian Wood feel to it.

Seems to me that you must be the lovechild of John Lennon and Paul Simon, which makes you pretty damn fine in my eyes.
