more song lyrics...

I've had this one for a while. Just now posting it on here.

Yes, I am aware that Reba McEntire has a song with the same title.

"A Lighter Shade of Blue"
© 2006, Monte Richardson

V1:
Baby when you left me, you left me down and out
You tore my heart, my soul apart when you told me we were through
You left me here alone and blue
Because I was in love with you.

CH:
Every day you're gone
I think less about you
It don't kill me like it used to
and I feel happier every day
'cause day by day I'm getting over you
and I feel A Lighter Shade of Blue

V2:
You said you weren't sorry for breakin' my loving heart
You knew it'd tear me up inside to hear you say good bye
But I'm not drowning in sorrow
I'm looking towards tomorrow

Chorus

Bridge:
Yeah, day by day I'm getting over you
And I feel a lighter shade of blue

Chorus

These read well MJR - no problems from me. It flows smoothly and has good meter. I like verse #2 the best......

Wouldn't worry about Reba's song unless you copy the melody or something....

Thanks! The reason I brought up Reba's song is that a friend of mine was concerned about the title. I did some research, and I discovered that, with certain exceptions, multiple songs can have the same title.

I'd rep you for all the great feedback on my songs, but everytime I try it tells me I need to spread some around first...

My first test of a new lyric is, when read, does it make a melody pop into my head. This tune passes with flying colors. It flows and reads well just as idol1957 states. I'm also very fond of rhymes within a line like this one from the first verse. Nice job. When can we hear a bit?

Those are good, positive lyrics. As ido said, good meter. Nice work.
