Drum Modules: Different trigger on different MIDI channel

I keep jumping in every time someone gets on the subject because I think these things are highly under-utilized. Even the shittiest one would be cool to me. Especially if they can do THIS:

Can you set a kit so that all pads are on one MIDI channel, and one pad on a different channel? Or even, the internal sounds on the whole kit, but one pad triggering a note on an outboard noisemaker? What about all triggers on different MIDI channels?

How nice/new/expensive of a module do you have to get that has this capability (would a Alesis DM4 do it?)

I saw chitty ones like that at Target, too. I want a couple few pads that can trigger sounds on sperate midi channels. Like:

Pad 1 channel 6.
Pad 2 Channel 8.
Pad 3 channel 11.

Is this possible, or would you have to have 3 seperate drum/midi converter devices to talk on 3 channels?

If you're going to be triggering a vsti, you could probably use a midi filter.
