It’s an older tape from the 1960’s first sold under the “Irish” label of Orradio Industries (which AMPEX acquired). It’s a voice grade tape similar (if not identical) to AMPEX 641, which was formulated for best performance between 100 Hz and 8 kHz… not exactly Hi-Fi.
On the other hand it’s probably perfectly intact and usable if sealed. Depending on what you want to use it for it may have a purpose. ~Tim ![]()

Depends on storage conditions (ie: is it stored at room temperature and away from damp condensation etc).
You might want to run the tapes through and check for any oxide deposits on the heads of the machine. If it looks in good contition and stored at normal room temperature then it should be fine. Also if they are in library cases or boxes then they should be fine. And yes Ampex is generally good quality tape. Of all the 60+ reels i have here all are good and smooth running with no deposits at all ![]() Keith |
