Do i have to use a plug in to trigger midi drums.

Basically i bought a USB drum kit, one that u plug into the PC (midi) and it comes with a software but i doubt it will be competant. I have acid pro and i would like to know whether or not i can just trigger anything (any sound on my pc) by using the midi numbers ( or characters, whatever..) from each of the pads in real time or do i have to buy something like drumkit from hell?
Thanks!

If the module puts out midi, you should be able to trigger any midi plugin with it. You can load your own drum sample in a sampler plugin.

Where'd you buy the USB kit?! I've been looking all over for them!
