standalone software vu meters

does anyone know of any standalone software vu meter plugin that i can get so i can use in fl studio?

If you're going to be using FL as your host you don't need a 'standalone' VST.

I can't seem to find any manual though. I'm wondering what the knobs on the back are for? PPM? hmm, peak programme meter right? I think I need to do some reading. Peak programme meter should show peaks instead of average right?

That meter looks like it would be really handy!

Ok, did a bit of reading, let me try to answer some of my own questions, It looks as if PPM is a BBC standard mostly used in the UK and is more reactive to sound levels, and therefore faster than the VU meters (which generally show an average) so the PPM will show even the slightest peak. Now if you have the peak light on a VU meter isn't that kinda the best of both worlds? Showing an average and the light kicks on when a peak is detected?

Am I on the right track here? I'm still not sure what the knobs on the back are for though.

yes, hint as to why the word 'peak' is used

The knobs on the back allow you to "calibrate" the meter how you'd like it.

I figured that, but I was confused as to the difference between a PPM and a Peak Meter. It looks to me like they are essentially the same thing.
