Thanks to the glorius info. here; I just bought the 424 MKII. What a difference from the 414! Heads are like new, cleaned and demagged anyway. Thanks again guys for the info.! I'll try to find the manual online. Thinking about using that to mix to the 414, then to r to r. Everything works great!

I have many cuts on my Soundclick page that were recorded with the 424mkII. I'd list'em for'ya, but not now,... maybe later.

PS: What I like about the 424mkII:

It's a huge improvement over the 424(std) and even the 414/mkII, (as you said above).

I like the flat mixer design with most connectors top-mounted for easy access.

Good sound,... almost goes without saying.

Good features, like EQ, extra inputs, bright Flouro-luminescent display. (Don't call it LED's).

Single self-contained unit with attached power cord,... unlike the 424mkIII with it's separate power module.

I like that subdued dark grey color. Don't ask me why.

Spring loaded & latched tape cover, not like the flip-open design of the 424mkIII.

Programmed-loop (Memo-1, Memo-2) & Auto-punch made it's debut on this machine, which was carried forward to the 424mkIII. That's a handy feature, if you take time to learn how to use it.

Probably more that I just can't think of right now. Need more coffee.

Thanks guys, until I find a manual, could you explain how the memo buttons work. Do the location buttons tell the tape when to start and stop? I guess they are similar to the VS-880? Thank God I finally sold that!
