i need something like that rc8 resilient channel

Auralex has the rc8 resilient channel but it seems a little
pricey. Is there something else to look for that does the same thing. And they also have those u-boats and again they
seem like a rip off. So is there an alternative to that somewhere? Thanks, Mike

Unimast makes the RC-2 resilient channel. Maybe there's a dealer in your area. I don't know if it's cheaper than Auralex, but it's worth a look.

Any Drywall supplier should be able to supply it. They use it in standard houses for ceilings here. It's not a specialist product.

you're right, John it's not a specialty product ...
But lots of people in the states get building supplies at places like Lowe's, Menards, Home Depot, etc ... and I don't think any of these big places carry resilient channels. I was never able to find them, anyway.
It's really not a specialty ... but you actually have to go to a drywall store, which kinda is in the states.

yep I have called around town and almost any drywall supplier sells it. And I found it for $1.92 a piece(12').
I'm just curious if its the same as the stuff auralex and
unimast sells, its so much cheaper. I'ts all made to do the
same thing.

From what I've heard from people who have used the stuff they sell at the drywall stores, it isn't as good as the stuff I got from Arualex. I've only used the Auralex Rc-8 channel so I can't talk from experience, but from what the people I've talked to have described it doesn't sound as good. What is this "pricey" price you're refering to snapper? If you buy it through a dealer int's under $4.00 for an 8' peice. I think I got it for something like $3.50 a peice. But you can't JUST keep in mind price, you have to keep in mind quality. Auralex has put lots of money and research into making their own channel, and I trust that over the drywall stores who use it in apartment buildings... have you ever been in an apartment building? I don't know about the ones you've been in, but I can hear pretty well through the walls.
If you want to go with a cheaper product just because it's cheaper, just keep in mind that you pay for what you get, and you get what you pay for.
