Step Designer in SX

I`ve been playing with the step designer and have got some cool sounds happening - but, This effect only seems to work in a 1 bar loop and also as it seems to be a liitle sequencer all by itself - but the main problem I`m having right now is that even when I mute every track the step designer carries on regardless
