Using FL Studio

Sup folks. I know some of yall hear use fruity loops in yalls setup along with hardware, such as a keyboard or mpc or somethin. I was just wondering how do yall implement fruity loops? I'm doin mine with my keyboard and fl synced thru midi right now using fl as the master. My only gripe about this is that if i click later on in the song on fl, the keyboard sequencer starts playing from the beginning. I tried using the keyboard as the master, but fl eventually gets off beat. I wish they would make a hardware version of FL. I think it would make a killer product.

lol, hardware sequencers are already made, so I don't think FL would stand a chance today against any of the other hardwares.... unless they spend a while creating something that hasn't been done... when FL first came out I tried it, but back then they didn't have much features. I tried todays' versions of them with a MIDI keyboard, but didn't really like it much (mainly because of my lack of knowledge using the program), so now I'm trying to grasp with Reason 3. Mainly in FL, the only thing I can do is play 1 note on the um track with the sound on it. No varieties of notes unless I open up piano roll and mess with it from there... but that seemed to me like a hassle. On Reason, I can just play like my regular self, and it'll be recorded exactly how I play. Easier imo... but I've seen some people make some killer beats with it. The program isn't that bad though, I've seen it at variety of studios that I've been to, multi-million dollar facilities that have at least 1 FL setup. IF you get a good MIDI keyboard that has more than just key's, you would be able to impliment some of those FL commands onto the knob's & mixer part of a MIDI device, like the korg kontrol49, you can use that to control a lot of commands in FL or any other sequencer/MIDI program.

LOL. I can see you haven't really delved into FL that much. You can really do alot with that program. You can also do alot with reason. The place where i think reason kills FL is that reason comes ready with great sounds and plugins. I love that mastering suite deal. With FL, the stock sounds are pretty much crap but if you load your own sounds and plugins it's great. I personally like FL's sequencer a little better. But, that's because i've been using FL for like 4 years now. That and Acid Pro are the first software i started with. Before that, i was using keyboards and tape decks. Those were the days!

Also, as far as sequencers, i've heard that the mpc is something like fruity loops sequencer wise. Not sure how true that is but i'm sure savin up for one. That and a Motif. Don't you have a keyboard mindset? You posted your equipment list a while back but i can't remember what thread that was in. What is you equipment list looking like now?

Yah I got a Yamaha SY77 synth, which I usually use the most for beats, and now just cracking into MIDI with the korg kontrol49 & a m-audio keystation49. Other than that, I got a pos behringer 12 channel mixer 1222 Pro, a dbx 160x compressor/limiter, a behringer composer 2600, a furman 31 band short throw EQ, a orban EQ (just got it), BBE 362 sonic maximizer, studiopro4 monitors (about to upgrade tomarrow lol), AKG headphones, a dbx patchbay M-Audio 24/96, AKG perception 200, nuemann tlm 193, MXL990, MXL 2003, and a AKG 4040. with those 3 keyboards, running Pro Tools M-Powered, Sonar 5, Nuendo 3, wavelab 5, sound forge 8, and Reason 3.

I'm debating on ordering another interface, now or later, but I plan to upgrade the mixer most definently to supply more busses, and the interface with more in's/outs.... I really want to get a pro tools setup along with maybe the RME Fireface 800.

naw not much, right now I'm just working at Solvay Engineered Polymers for $12/hr, and then I got my lil hustle on the side, selling CD's etc... and then I go to school during the night, and get free studio time, so guess what.... I charge people $100 for 3 hours in the studio, and $200 for 3 hours & a beat to record on. So it all adds up, and then I manage money good.... yeah right.... my money goes towards wants, like that tlm 193 lol.
