Inserts and Sends are both for effects. In general, use inserts for dynamic processors (compression) and sends for time/space processors (reverbs/delays). LE is limited to 2 inserts per channel. I think there are some VST effects that may let you load multiple inserts into a single slot, but I don't recall the names of any right now. You can also get more effects by grouping channels and applying additional effects to the group channel.

You create a group like this=

1)right click below your current tracks (as you would to add an audio or MIDI track)... and select create a new group. You'll be able to do it via a pull down menu at the top too.

2)Name the new group something sensible

3)Then go to all the tracks you want to group and route them from Bus 1 to the new group.
