Is this possible at all ?!!?

Hi.

I just had a crazy idea, don't know if it is at all possible...

I have a FW410 and will be upgrading to MOTU Traveller. Is it possible to hook
up both cards and switch between drivers in apps, or even have two apps running each with it's own audio driver?

My upgrade also includes the new macbook pro with two fw800 6 pin, so, connection is not limited

If it is possible, I just had ten zillion ideas of possible uses. One would be to use the FW410 as a dongle for PT M-Powered whilst using the Traveller for it's better pre's and DSP

Or run indipendant midi in playing live...

Having more "in's" (not in same app, but could route from another into main app with rewire or similar...)

thanks!

It is possible to cascade Firewire interfaces. Whether this will work with two different manufacturers I'm not sure, but you can find out thru easy experimentation since you're going to have both the MAudio and the MOTU soon.

The term 'cascade' means hooking one into the other. You would not be able to use them independently, which seems to be what you're basing some of your more outlandish 'suppose-ings' on.

Work with what your setup can do before scheming up ways to get around it's 'limitations'.

... I had forgotten about daisy chaining actually...

Although I did have a couple of ideas, my main and sole interest would be to dongle for protools m-powered and not cash out for another version.

I'll try it when I get the stuff...

And this relates to your soundcard questions how?

Well,

I would like to continue using PT-MP, for that my FW410 is it's dongle.
But, I would love to use more simlutaneous in's and better AD/DA of the MOTU

I mean, would the system recognise the FW410 in there, but let me capture waves trough the Traveler?

Dunno.

That's what I posted earlier was for you to experiment with since you'll be getting both firewire interfaces very soon.

I can't see why it wouldn't work --- but then again maybe there's someting that I don't know about MOTU firewire interfaces...

If both devices can use a ASIO driver then it could be possible to use both interfaces at the same time while useing the "ASIO4All" driver as it supports multiple simutainius pieces of ASIO compatible hardware.....

worth a Try??

Good luck
