Question clicking noise-M-Audio 2496

I'm getting constant rhythmic clicking during recording. I've got the latest driver i can get (5.10.00.0052), am using a pretty fast year-old Dell Dimension, UB802 mixer, and AKG Perception 100 mic. The setup works fine (no clicks) with the on-board Soundblaster card. Any ideas, help? I'm new to this field and this is really frustrating. Thanks.

Buffer increase.

Thanks; I've tried changing every possible parameter on the M-audio control panel. The higher the number, the worse the problem.

See what happens when you disable the Soundblaster in the control panel. In theory, you should be able to have 2 soundcards active in your machine but it doesn't always work out like that in practice.

If that doesn't fix the problem, try uninstalling, then reinstalling the 2496 with the Soundblaster still disabled.

how are you clocking everything ?

Have you a choice of clocks you can set as master ?

Is their anything else slaved to the master clock that could be out of synch?
(Clock noise sounds like intermittent rhythmic clicking or "fut" noises)
