Help In Setting Up Midi

Here's my setup:
TASCAM DM24 (MIX BOARD)
SONY VIAO P4 1.8(Ghz)
M-AUDIO FIREWIRE 410 (Sound Card)
SONAR PRODUCER 4 (RECORDING SOFTWARE)
MOTU MIDI EXPRESS XT (8X8)
AKIA MPC2000 (DRUM MACHINE/SEQUENCER WITH A&B PORTS)
KORG TRINITY(PLUS) WORKSTATION
E-MU MODULES (AUDITY, PLANET PHATT, ORBIT, CARNAVAL, PROCUSSION)
NOVATION DRUM STATION

Here's my situation:
I want to do MIDI recording and hook up all the devices into the MOTU MIDI EXPRESS 8x8 panel and do not know how to wire it and which device should be the master controller for all my modules. The MOTU MIDI EXPRESS I/O ports will be able to be routed VIA software on the WINDOWS GUI interface once hardwiring is done. Before this attempted MIDI setup into the M-AUDIO FIREWIRE 410 (Sound Card) I was doing all my recording in AUDIO and my master controller was the MPC2000 using channel A I/O to KORG TRINITY(PLUS) WORKSTATION.

I then used MPC2000 channel B I/O going IN/THRU all the way down to the last sound module. This wiring allow me to control (trigger) all my modules and record right into SONAR PRODUCER in AUDIO. As you can see 3 things here 1) MIDI EXPRESS is not integrated in this setup 2) the sound card MIDI I/O is also not integrated in this setup and 3)the TASCAM DM24 was not part of this configuration.

TASCAM has a file from tascam.com that allows the TASCAM DM25 to be a controlled source specifically in SONAR. My question is this, how would I wire all these units so that 1)I can do MIDI recording into SONAR PRODUCER 2)which one should be the master/slave controller? 3)And is there anything I left out to gain a professional advice from you?

Here what I would do:

Maudio midi IN: Trinity OUT
Maudio Midi out: Trinity IN

8x8 Midi IN:
1: MPC OUT A
2: MPC OUT B
3: AUDITY OUT
4: PLANET PHATT OUT
5: ORBIT OUT
6: CARNAVAL OUT
7: PROCUSSION OUT
8: DM24 OUT

8x8 Midi OUT:
1: MPC IN
2: Drumstation IN
3: AUDITY IN
4: PLANET PHATT IN
5: ORBIT IN
6: CARNAVAL IN
7: PROCUSSION IN
8: DM24 IN

This way you can talk and dump to and from your modules, all routing is done via software

I would also consider getting an expansion card for the DM, that should be your sound card, going through the mixer back out to analog and back in through the maudio is not the best way to go since the DM is a digital mixer and you should be sending from that directly into the computer

Let's start with the midi connections on the MOTU 8 x 8 midi patcher. First of all plug it into the midi out of the MAudio soundcard, then configure the 2 things you have that transmit midi signals -- the MPC and the Trinity -- as the masters (the inputs) so you can switch between them in Sonar.

Then plug your modules into the midi outs of the MOTU - the Audity, Planet Phatt, Orbit, Carnaval, Procussion and the Drum Station.

All of these devices have multiple audio outputs and which ones you bring back to the DM24 has to be up to you. You may need all 4 of the Audity outputs and only 1 from the Procussion, for example. Then, assuming the DM24 has the analog output option, patch four of them into the soundcard.

If you want to use the Trinity's internal sounds you will need to turn 'Local On/Off'' to 'Off'. You will find this in the global page and it will break the connection between the keyboard and the sounds inside.

If this doesn't solve the problem feel free to post again.

I would suggest the IF/FW-DM firewire card. 24 channels audio between your DM24 and your computer. This would have to be your soundcard, of course, as ASIO doesn't support multiple devices.
