Chase lock issue - (2) Fostex D-90's

After almost ruining my eyesight, and most assuredly suffering brain damage from trying to understand the manual... I am still having trouble acheiving chase lock between two D-90's.

I can control the slave as far as arming tracks and can get a flashing record LED, flashing "chase" indicator, and steadily lit "digital" indicator. However, when record is activated from the master remote, the chase LED on the slave still flashes and the slave time display does not follow.

I have recorded onto two tracks on the master...no problem, and I can get signal on armed tracks on the slave.

I am using a 32 channel Behringer MX3242X analog mixer, with direct outs to first 16 channels, and the D-90's return to channels 17-32 utilizing the "flip" switch for mixdown.

Thanks for reading this post...I have also posted on the Fostex.com forum.

Creek,

I suggest you go to http://www.recordingproject.com/bbs/index.php and attempt to attract the attention of skod, one of the moderators there as he knows more about the D series recorders than anyone else I've encountered. He used to post here way back under the username skippy.

BTW, I know what you mean about the manuals, they are great aren't they . Actually, once you get use to them they are OK, although I must admit to having rewritten some of the pages so I could understand them.

Thanks to advise received from Cairns @ the Fostex.com forum...We have chase lock!!

I read in the manual about recording a track on the master so the slave would have time code to chase, but I must have missed the part about doing the same on the slave, to lay down time code there as well.

I recorded a blank track on the slave using the slaves controller and both units synced right up operating from the masters controller.

Thanks ausrock for your reply...
