Acoustic Strings

Hey, having been an electric player for years I've recently got into acoutsic and was wondering about string gauge. I know my martin is set up for lights, but what gauge are lights? I have a set of Thomaskin 12 gauge strings, will these be okay? Dude in the shop said anything beolw that would be super-light, but I thought I'd check. Cheers guys.

If you're planning on switching gauges, it's probably a good idea to get the guitar set-up by a tech with the new gauge. Especially true if you plan to use the guitar for recording. The change from 12's to 13's may not be all that noticeable for casual playing, but it will affect the overall intonation a bit.

I think mine came with 13's, which are called Mediums on the string package. 12's most likely will call for a truss rod adjustment maybe.

Light 12 string sets start with an .010 for the high E. If you're gonna use 12's or 13's plan on tuning your guitar a step lower or having neck problems.

12 string guages
