Did A Remix Of This One...

I was backing up my HD, as I need to replace it, and found this one, put aside quite some time ago.

It features Jack Real, Space, and myself.

50KBs download speed from your website there? Fuck...........get a new website hosting service!!!! I didn't pay for this 6mb cable connection to download at 50KBs.

Initial impression.

Guitar sounds nice. Good playing and all that.

I am not digging the keys. Not enough ambiance to them. Also, maybe a tad too bright sounding.

I think for this production, the kick drum is too boomy sounding. It should be a bit more of a thud, rather than this HUGE low end on it.

The vocal doubling really needs to tighten up. I am not digging how the are loosy goosy.

Mix is fairly well balanced though.

Damn!!! That is slow today....normally I get 180-200...

I have no idea what's up with that.

Thanks for the tips Ed. So, keys, try more verb on them, or try nad eq the brightness away? I never mess with keys, so this is my first time mixing them in here. Drums, I think I know what you are talking about. I might have boosted them up in the low end. I'll have to check what eq this mix has on it. Vocals might be tougher, as I always have trouble with vox. He did give me a few tracks to choose from, so I'll see what else is there. Maybe something that is closer, or I'll try and nudge things.

Thansk again Ed, appreciate it.

I'm listening on laptop speakers so I'm not going to be able to give you much feedback right now - try again later. I did want to say it was a cool tune and pass along these initial thoughts....
- good vocals/harmonies
- smoking lead break
- nice bluesy lead after that
- enjoyed the writing/arrangement of this
- had a nice laid back feel with power in the solo

Have fun doing your backup - you'll probably find lots of cool stuff - post some more please

That intro guitar tone is to kill for. And played really nicely.

The song is just the way it should be. I kinda like the synths in there. Backup vox sound cool.

The lead solo sounds really cool but I can't hear it well on this system.

So that brings me to the issue of something in there being too loud. It could be what Ford Van said - the kick. But on this system it sounds more like the combo of bass and the synth that is adding some rumbliness to the mix even behind the verses.

So I'd recommend two things:
1 - Rolloff the bass below 100Hz and see how it sounds. If cool, rolloff the synth too. If it sounds cool keep it.
2 - Raise the vox level. This is pre-gruff Dogman, I see! Henceforth, we'll refer to this as the classic years. LOL! And if step 1 doesn't fix the lead, then raise them a little too. People who can actually play solos shouldn't keep them down. Hehe, that's why I try to keep my "solos" short and lower in volume.

Very nice tune, dude!

Thanks for the listen Bubba...and the ideas. The singing is Jack REal, not me... ...he can ectually sing. It was jis idea for me to turn this into a song, instead of teh instrumental I had. Bass might be a bit loud, and maybe the kick needs some taming. I think I did make it a bit too boomy.

Thanks for the ideas man...hopefully I can work on it more this weekend.

The only thing I'd alter is to do a bit of deessing.
I like the mix as it is.
Nice hypno track.
The dense texture & sounds suit the theme & your voice lifts above occasionally & sometimes threatenes to drown - but, again, I like that.
The 1st solo starts out too fast for the track - I'd have liked a slow burn beginning that hotted up - somewhat like the the 2nd solo but building up to frenzy then dropping into that 2nd solo.

Thansk Ray...I need to work on my pc, as it's running really slow. Then get back to remixing this. Actually, I will probably play with music first, as it's more fun....
Yeah, I need to work out the vocals some...Jack gave me a few tracks, so I might see if another track will sound better.

Thansk for the listen man...appreciate it.

Cool dawg, never heard this one before.
The intro guitar is sweet. When the bass/drums/electric comes in it does sound a bit muddy to my ears.
Vox are nice, clear, and good. I agree about the de-essering and there are a few small points of harshness. I still think you could have a little more punch out of the music behind the vox. Sounds real cool though, I dig the song... pretty trippy moving along with my disco ball (yeah I busted that out tonight for some reason )
As the song builds some more synths here and there would sound cool too, make it even trippier IMO. Guitar playing is pretty sweet too. Nice work here everyone, good stuff!!

Cool tune. Sounds great on my PC speakers at work.
Who is playing what.

It could use a bit more low end.
Also i'm not sure I like how it ends. I cant play it to loud at work so Ill have to check it out at home.

Snake, Larry..thanks guys. Yeah, this is one Space and I played with a bit, then Jack came in with some parts and sang, so it went from an instrumental for a goofy video, to a real song...then got parked. I found it while backing up files, and messed with it some.

Thanks for the listens...I might try and fix more issues, when I get some time. You know how that goes...

Pics of the disco ball man...I need motivation...

Hey, thanks tomboZ...I started this by doimg a simple guitar guitar thing, and then looped it for a video I made..it was pretty mundane, but it went out to the family a few Christmas' ago. Then VSpaceBoy said he do a basslinf for it, and that really filled it out...I had some lyrics, but they were just so-so..then Jack Real said he'd like to write some more lyrics, and have a go at singing it. Space, Jack and myself then wrote a bunch of lyrics, Jack sang them, and added some ditsorted guitar, and the some synths. The ending guitar solo was stolen from another tune a friend did, and just tossed in here to make it whacky...and I've always left it on. It doesn't fit, bit I like the playing...

Thanks man...

Dogman, in most of your tracks is the bass processed? Like distortion and such FX? Just curious 'coz I'm working on a new song that I'd like to be pretty heavy.

Bubba, in most of my tunes, I play through a cheap V-Amp...I always want a different sound, so that gives me lots of options. This is not my bass..this is VSpaceBoy...Not sure how he recorded that.

The V-Amp will let you get some great distortion on a bass...pretty cool toy for $99.

Thanks man.

Beautifull tune.

I have some nits with the low end, it sounds like it dissolves itself or something like that.
It just get swallowed sorta.
But the tune and the rest is really cool, I like the mix between heavy and pop here.
Those strings kill.

great work, Ed, and the rest of ya

Thanks Nak...I'm working on a remix right now...trying to get a bit more definition of each part. I think the bass is a bit big...it sort of gets messed up in the drums, I think. I need to define each one, and that might fix the low end.

Appreciate the listen man...

Hi Ed

Good that you found the mix, I really enjoyed it. We did try different things for the mix at the time but I think this one is going in the right direction. Nice work.
