It must be Friday night....

...because I have a new tune.

Seems to be my pattern lately. start a tune on Saturday and finish by the following Friday. Of course, it's just the first of many mixes will be affected by everyone's great insight here. Thanx alot for any advice in advance.

As usual, it should start right away...Make sure it's MADMAN INSIDE ME

9.48 Sat morning.
Great rhythm section!
Chorus is glorious.
Harmonies - esp in chorus - are tops.
Bass is a little overwhelmed.

This tune first reminds me a bit of Janes addiction than it takes on its own identety.

Nice harmonies as mentioned, fat guitars.

The refrain (chorus) is one of your best so far, pure class.

It still sounds very rami, wich to me is another sign of quality.

man that guitar solo rawks, dirty and hummy, beatifull.
I really enjoyed that solo sound man, usually your stuff is very clean, but this time you threw your hair back, but on the shades and rawked out.

Very cool indeed bro

Nice rocker, right off the bat. That is a good intro... It sets a nice vibe for me.
When the vocals kick in, it continues with a great feel. Nice straight forward rock vibe man....drums are great as usual. Guitar tone is killer, and the progression is fun...has an upbeat feel to it. I wouldn't mind the bass being a littl more up in volume, but that is just me. You capture a great tone there, and your lines are very good. Bring it up some, if it fits. The vocals mixed pretty well on this one. they seem to have a good spot. The solo break fit nicely...good tone, and the note choice enhanced teh song. Nicely done.

I'd love to nit this one, but man, I hear nothing that needs any work. I'm sure you'll find a way to improve it, but with my limited knowledge, I sure wouldn't know how.

Nice one man...you're the Whirling Dirvish of the musical world.

First off - once again, top notch work!

I agree with dogman, that the bass is maybe a tad buried - maybe not so much more volume, but a little more definition is needed.

Other than that, the only thing I am not in love with is the rhythm guitar sound, but that is merely an artistic nit.

How do you keep doing it??!?!?!!???!!???

Thanx alot guys. So the general consensus is that the bass needs to be more present, either in volume or in EQ'ing. You're all probably right, It's kind of a busy tune, arrangement-wise, so it was a challenge finding room for everything. I'll defeinitely try bringing up the bass or cutting a bit of lows on the guitars. Or maybe the bass drum is too loud for the kik? Anyway, thanx alot guys. Something to work on for sure.

JPW...I know exactly what you're getting at with the title. The only madman "inside me" is me...LOL!!!!

Love the way this one opens up. Drums sound great as always man. I'm only on headphones but these headphones are actually overly bassy and im not hearing too much of the bass, so i guess I kinda agree with some of whats been said already. Melody on the verses is great, as well as the backups. Chorus is tight, love how your back ups always come out. Don't have any real thing helpful to say, but really enjoyed the song.

Take care

gary

Hey Gary...Thanx alot...Yeah, I went out for a few hours, so I'm listening now with fresh ears. I should have done some referencing with other tunes because now it's so obvious that it lacks bass and low end in general. That's whhy I post them right away...You guys have better and more objective ears than me. So, I'm going to re-mix this with that in mind. I appreciate the advice, guys.

Just re-mixed it for those listening for the first time. I brought up the bass. Actually, I realised that I had made a mistake. I was compressing it a second time by mistake before. Long story, but that's the jist of it.

When I saw the thread I really thought it was going to say "It must be Friday night... time to drink " Especially tonight, just got my ass kicked in a tennis league, umm... time to celebrate

Bass sounds real good on my system.
High rhythm guitars sound fine to me when you're singing. If you can work volume envelops I'd recommend bringing them up when you're not singing. IMO they're kind of exposed as being buried a bit during those parts. Guitar solo is good, but could be louder, rhythm dominates a little much there. Catchy shiiiiat man, just some minor nits IMO.

Thanx alot....SnakeMatey. Now that you mention it, that lead is low. The other part you're talking about, I don't mind it low. I hear it as a background part. But I'm definitely bringing that lead up...Thanx dude. I'm going back in!!!!

Another great tune RAMI - lots of cool stuff going on throughout....
- the way you use lead runs/riffs for rhythm
- the high lead on the right filling in the top end but never obtrusive
- solid harmonies on chorus
- you're really diggin' in for that solo and lettin 'er rip - nice one
- the sustain note at the end is a nice touch
- I'm listening on earbuds right now - I'm getting lots of bass but they emphasize bass so I think your levels are ok now...
Cool tune, I think this is sounding pretty good - if this is not done it's awful close....

Thanx alot IDO....Yeah, I brought up the bass and fixed a few things. Right now, I'm just doing little adjustments. I'm not happy with the snare on this yet. Still lacks something that I can't quite put my finger on. Just screwing around with that.
Thanx alot.

RAMI - I've listened a few times and the snare sounds ok to me. Just the right snap and punch...but I'll leave it with you. Post an update if you find a sweeter spot than it's already in

IDO....I fixed the snare and judging by the time of your post, you heard the fixed version. I was going to re-post and say it was fixed, but I figured I'd wait until someone else posted so as not to bump my own tune just to tell people I fixed the snare.
I had a problem I never encountered before. Usually all I have to do is flip the phase on my snare and everything's cool. For this tune, for some reason, it still sounded a little thin, as if it was just a little out of phase (I don't even know if that's possible). So I had to flip the phase AND nudge the snare track a bit. Never experienced that before. Now I'm happy with it. Thanx for listening again.

Rockin tune Rami. I think the snare is still a little off but I didn't hear it before you fixed it. Sounds like it's not as crisp(less snap and snare) as usual and your compensating with volume. Snare need tightening?

Damn! Really??? Is the snare too loud? I didn't try to compensate with volume but it could be less bright. I'll have to put the tine away and listen again in a few days. I've heard it too many times in the last 2 days to be objective, but thanx for pointing it out.
