n-track on a laptop?
This might seem like a stupid question, because I suppose it all boils down to how much RAM or storage you have.
But has anyone actually used it on a laptop? If so, what kind of specs on your machine? Do you save your song files to CD, or to a data stick? Does it run o.k. this way? |

Been running N since v2. Three different desktops and now a laptop.
N actually takes LESS resources than a lot of other sequencers. Specs: Gateway P4 2.8Ghz (long time 512Mb RAM but now 1.5Gb Ram) BigHint: The thing about sequencing on laptops is that (just like with desktops) you need a fast secondary drive to record to. Most laptops only have 4500rpm or 5400rpm internal drives for business purposes. You need to get a fast outboard firewire drive to record to so that the flow isn't interrupted by OS housekeeping. I use a GlyphGT050 firewire drive daisy-chained to my Motu828mkII with ZERO problems. |

I use N-track with a Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop for mixing and editing and have had no problems. Interface is a Digigram VXPocket PCMCIA card. If I used it more for tracking I'd probably get a fast external drive as Tim mentioned.

These guys claim their internal HD will do the job?
Both laptops are capable of 24 tracks so they say...Anyone have experience with these laptops? |
