Behringer Composer MDX2000

I have a Behringer Composer MDX2000 (old I know but it's still workin' well so if it ain't broke, don't replace/fix it

I just need to know if anyone can recommend what settings I should use for recording.

I record to my Hard Drive through a Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro sound card.

I am a DJ so the main audio source is vinyl with a small amount of CD / Digital audio via a Denon CD Mixer.

I usually couple the composer for start but after that, I can't quite figure out what my settings should be to help maintain a consistant sound level for recording.

Any help / advice is much appreciated.

Cheers.

hmm.. maybe I'm asking the wrong question...

As a guide, what should the audio levels be (in db) when recording (what is the standard)?

Based on the above, what are the most common settings for a compressor gate when recording in order to maintain the standard audio levels?

The settings depend on the source material. There is no "standard" setting. I suggest you read more about compressors and experiment. Learn by doing.

Yea man, sounds like you need to do some research on levels for digital recording. The reason no one is answering you, is that there is that settings for every recording situation are different.

No one can tell you what you need to set it at, but once you understand levels in the digital realm, you will have a better idea if you even need to use the compressor, and what it should be set at.

Here is a link with some good information about compressors, but you really need to understand levels first...
