Key not working on MIDI controller

Hey guys,

I realized that one of the keys on my Studiologic VMK-88 isn't working (no sound when I depress that particular key). However, when I look at my MIDI interface, I'm getting activity on the MIDI in port where I have the controller plugged in when I push the key down. Any suggestions? Should I clean the contact?

Thanks

Unless you bought the controller used and it's in rough shape it's probably not the key contact - especially if you can see it on the screen.

It's more likely that the key in question is assigned to do something else other than play a note, like trigger a sequence, start or stop sampling or perform any number of functions that can be mapped to a particular key.

If whatever software you are using has assignable key maps switch to a default one and the problem may well go away.
