Monitors: Tascam VLX5 vs MAudio BX5

I have the Maudio BX5's and am not happy with them and was considering buying the Tascam VLX5s. Is there a great enough difference between the Tascam VLX5's and the MAudios to justify the money? Also, is the Blue Sky MediaDesk 2.1 a big step over the Tascams? I don't usually like the sound of subs, but maybe I just haven't heard good ones. Thanks

How's your room treatment? Are there any? BX5's are OK monitors for their range really.

BX5 vs. VLX5 = total sideways move. Not worth the money in my opinion. If you want better you have to spend more. Just trading around in the same price range is not going to do anything for you.

Take a look at the KRK V6's. You'll spend around $700 for a pair, but I'd take them over anything you've mentioned so far.

I don't have any room treatment. What should I avoid in terms of placement of monitors in a room?

Avoid setting up facing a corner, and don't put your monitors flat up against the wall. Have them at least a foot away from the wall.
