Sync Info - Home Recording

Can someone shed some light on how to sync my adat with cubase and the advantages this will have for me?
I am using a pentiumIII 800 with a gadgetlabs wave 8/24 soundcard and more than enough ram.
i have a small well equipped studio including 48 channel mixer.
If anyone can help i would appreciate it!
