i'm assuming that you are using an adapter to go from the preamp out to the sound card line in? 1/8" mini to 1/4" adapter?

read the jack labels and list your signal chain in this fashion (just an example):

v67 condensor mic > xlr cable > dmp3 preamp mic input> dmp3 preamp line output > ts 1/4" cable > ts 1/4" to 1/8" adapter > sound blaster live line input

btw, you should be going into the LINE input, not the mic input of your sound card.

Yes.

Make sure you have the volume settings configured right on your computer. Set the recording device as "LINE IN".

Its sad you find humor in other peoples pain. Isnt this a home recording site dedicated to helping people learn how to record? Our community is built on shared knowledge. We help each other learn and grow everyday.

I could say "what you dont know how to fly a russian MIG jet" "your a dumb ass newb". Everything is learned knowledge and everything sounds complicated to those that dont understand it(even the most simple things in life).

KNOWLEDGE IS A GIFT, PASS IT ON! Thats why we are on hr in the first place. Stay in the cave if you know it all and want to waste your life away.
You got it up and running yet alpo3k?

Edit: I see that you dont hang in the cave and you give some good advice. Sorry to flame you. Your not a bad guy. I thought you were a newb hunter. My apology to you punkin

undergroundtoon, i'm pretty sure punkin was being sincere. recording is so much more fun when it's new, imo. it seems like everything was so much more about the music when i started playing around with recording. it can easily change on you if you don't watch out.

it's cool seeing new guys coming here that are just getting started with recording. we can remind them of some our own pitfalls when we started.

Yeah i know, hence my edit. I just grit my teeth when i read it, because i spent alot of my hard earned overtime money on a back pack studio that i cant get running. I just pictured him laughing at me. I read it like= a year later he asked "did you get it going yet". I didnt read it like he was talking to the thread poster. it just hit home for me.

I watched for days till they fell off the charts with no reply. To be honest it is probably my fault for not going to toshiba direct and finding a compatable card. My jack ass posts like the one above didnt help some peoples desire to help me either. i have nothing agains either of you. I just took what he said too personal and out of context.

wow, I have to say it was pretty tough to read. I never meant any malice nor did I find the poster's situation funny in any way. I remember when I set up my first computer recording rig and the struggle but then when I finally got it all working the satisfaction and fun it turned out was all well worth it.

I probably shouldn't have said anything at all except I did notice that the post was sitting there idle and as I'm not familiar with the exact same equipment I was looking for a stimulating way to "bump" the thread and keep a little visibility to it.

I sincerly hope that he gets his equipment up and running. That's all.

Hit the little button that says "+48"...

It's really hard to troubleshoot without a proper signal chain with types of equipment noted... If you're trying to connect a condenser mic straight into the sound card you have no phantom power for the mic... If you've got a preamp... then the phantom power has to be switched on... outputs go to inputs... etc...
