vocal echo/delay - Home Recording

Using vst 3.7, Is there a way to apply a delay (or any other effect) to just a section of a vocal track.I know I could cut the part and put it on an empty track and apply the effect there, but this is a lot of fucking around. Is there an easier way? Thanks
