What yall do for a livin?

Just curious to see what other producers in here do for a living. I'm a customer service rep. I don't have a degree yet seeing that i'm kinda confused with what i wanna do for a "real" 9-5. I wanna pursue a music career but i need a decent paying 9-5 first. What yall do?

I'm just like you Tone. Putting my game face on everyday to be on the got damn phone. But at least while I'm deciding where I want to get my bachelor's degree in business management at, I can still write lyrics for albums, make webpage designs on paper, and strategize business plans, and anything else I gotta do.

I'll pursue a career in music when I'm ready to. If things blow up in my favor, that's straight. If I wind up doing it on the side because that's what I like to do and I make some money here and there like I have been, that's straight too. Sometimes you have to look at where you are and make the right moves to get where you want to be.

Technical Support Rep for Verizon DSL (yup, im on the phones too), hate it, but it's better than no paycheck at all lol. Only a couple classes away from an associates degree in Computer Info Systems also. Dont know where I'm goin from there.

PA Liquor Control Board - Procurement Division. I'm a lowly Clerk Typist 2 (receptionist/secretary/typist) for now. In just over a semester, i'll have my CIS Support Services Assoc. Degree, so i'll just bid on an IT job w/ the state. Gotta keep my vacation and benefits!!

ADD: oh yeah, i'm also a full-time husband, 3/4-time student (9 credits), and part-time softball player. Volleyball in the winter, oh yeah!

LOL. Whasup wit almost everyone having a phone job? That's hilarious. I don't even know what i wanna go to college for. I was in school for an associate degree in microcomputer specialist, then i switched to multimedia, then i didn't go back. I'm really good with computers so i'm considering trying that again, or i'm considering the health field. I was thinking about radiologic technology but not sure. I'm not too keen on being exposed to radiation for 40hrs a week. If i went the computer route, my eyes would be strained for 40hrs a week. I don't know. I just want atleast 35,000-40,000 a year so i can have steady work, then come home and do my music(and have money to fund it). That's all i ask for! I don't have any kids or a wife yet so i'd be supportin myself only!

dropped out of college after freshman year... spent all my savings and my parents savings on equipment... now i own/run my own print shop and i have a clothing line i do on the side (some real underground, sneaker fiend ish)...

but i am going back to college as a sophomore to pursue a degree in business management and apparel design.

i figure i should have a solid foundation with clothing design and business in order for me to really make some serious moves. gotta be educated or else you waste money on bad business strategy

Well me im a full time student pursuing an electrical engineering (even tho i really dont want to be here) I dont mind the field but i just dont really like this school to much...

as far as a job go im one of the computer constant assistants in my school math department... i fix the computers deal wit professors (for them to be so smart they dont have much common sense) and stuff like that......

dont kno what im goin to do after school.. but i got three more years to think about that tho... in the meantime i make music to keep my sanity... cause wit out it I would be in one of those white rooms wit paded walls..... wearing one of those o so comfortable jackets.....

It's hard to say what I do now because I'm all over. I'm working hard to pay all these bills for the studio. Got credit cards and such. So I travel and engineer at studios while I have folks run the my studio. Then we sell beats. Give tutorials, and music education... Then I do web marketing and make web sites for companies... So you could say it's multimedia. But, I try to have everyone eat good that's why I get people to work and they get a cut out of what they do...

Running a business is a real science... It's not easy.

It's funny if I look back. I really never worked for a company or business before. It's all been self business income. I've been lucky so far. But, I have backup. College...

It sure does hurt at times. When business isn't good, you really have to think... You may have to change your business plan and make new strategies... That's why we have meetings every week to go through everything. If something isn't working, we have to reach a new goal that month. You take it one step at a time. If you loose one step, you have to make up 2 steps...

I do my 9-5 in a motha fuckin toll booth!!!! yea it feels like a cell but when i get this mpc1000 i'll be bringin that to work wit me. after the 9-5 i use 4 hours a day running my other business that i would be happy to share wit anybody that wants to own their own business and after that i make beats and then sleep

I'm a computer guy. I like to call myself a "web software engineer".

I do web-based applications and web sites.

I sit in front of dual 19 inch monitors with a computer with two 250GB hard drives, 1 GB of RAM, and a 3 GHz processor and I write code and do graphics all day...

I'm not a producer...just a singer/songwriter...

I'm a assistant manager at a mainstream record store...that's for now.

I plan on moving to Berlin (Germany) in february, and get a job in the music business through my contacts....like booking-agent or something in promotions, while studying audio engineering at SAE.

I know this might be a "grown up" thread but what the heck lol. Im still in high school @ H.D Woodson in D.C. However the section that im in at my school is a section for students that look to be in the business world or corporate world. We study ish like Accounting, Banking and Credit, Business Communications and ish like that. Its all good but sometimes it gets too routine and boring but thank God for girls . I also work at FedEx field as a lot attendant and parking cashier/hustler(giving spots im not supposed to for money only $15 and up I make beats as a hobby and I want to go to college for something in music production but I figured it might be hard to get a job after college if I do that...maybe yall can help me out with that Well thats about it other than hustlin a lil bit, gettin girls, and oh yeah I play CB at H.D too I run a 4.42 40 yard dash, and thats about it...and oh yea im kinda a laid back chill dude that loves 2 laugh
