Unhappy

I receieved a fostex VF 08 Unit a while ago, but just now have I got my hands on it. Everything was going smoothly, but I want to import files from my PC into the VF-08. I have an instrumental file which will back my vocals, however I do not know how to record them into my new unit. There are S/P DIF input/outputs on the back of the unit, however I've no idea how to use them, and pretty sure my soundcard does not have the proper connectors. Im wondering if I can just record my instrumental files directly into the Inputs I normally record my vocals on, or if I have to buy an adapter/soundcard etc.????

Anyhelp would be very much appreciated

Geoff

You bet Geoff,

get your self two cables both should be RCA to 6mm mono phone jack. You can do it with one but you dobble your work.

That is if your card has RCA outs. If you have miniplugs just do the same. Mini stereo to two 6mm mono jacks "Y" cable. You may want to make it your self so lable L/R on the 6mm jacks

The reason is when you record you want both the L/R channel from your sound card. The inputs are mono on the VF08 so you will have to set your tracks repectivly full left and full right with the pan key on there tracks (page 37 manual) Then there in the VF08 and you can mix them the way you want.

Get a card that supports SP/dif and your life will be easier. Just plug in the cable SP/Dif in/out and choose the track press record.

Chris.....Norway

ps. I may have a review on the VF08 later than sooner. I have already from Christmas over 105 hours of recording men's choral music. Axis, I will be Auditioning a par of SRO's soon.
