Starting out, need Advice and help.

Hello, im going to get some gear soon to record drums, vocals and bass/guitar.

This is what i put together, not sure if its what i need to record drums.

Behringer UB1202 Mixing desk
1 Samson Q Kick - Kick Drum Mic
1 Shure SM57
1 Shure SM 58
1 Behringer C-2 mics
cables
stands
delta 44

It would all cost me about 330 pounds. which i think is very good.

So what im asking is will this work in recording drums into like abobe audition, or would i need something else. I know how to record guitar well, but nothing else.

Mark

IMO, Samson and Behringer are just about the very bottom of the quality spectrum. Yeah, their stuff is inexpensive and will probably allow you to record, but there are better options if you can round up just a little more scratch. Many folks prefer the Yamaha MG series mixers to the Behri's. MXL, Studio Projects, Kel, and Audio Technica all make decent enough cheap mics that would edge out what you've listed (save the SM57, which is a pretty handy mic to have one, or 6, lying around).

One of the members here, mshilarious, makes small condenser mics and will ship to europe. A pair of his msh-1O omnis would make good overheads and also work for acoustic guitar, etc. Then, add the SM57 (or 2) for snare and guitar cabs. Audix D6, AKG D112, ATM-25, Shure Beta 52 would all make suitable kick mics (or just use an SM57 until you can save up enough money for one of these).

The Delta 44 is a good choice, imo.

So how do i record the drums, plug the mics into the mixer and plug the mixer into the delta 44 and click record. Or just put the mics into the delta 44 and click record.

The Delta 44 has line-level inputs only, so you'll need to run each mic into a preamp (on your mixer). In order to get each mic to a separate input on the 44, you'll need to choose a mixer with direct outs for each channel, or insert points on each channel that you plan to use.

I think you are going to need some preamps, via a mixor or standalone. the delta 44 doesn't have a bunch of pre's does it?

i use 2 overhead SDCs,
sm57 on snare
EV re27 on kick

for drums (I am a huge amatuer) and 4 tracks does me well. Each goes into one or antoher mic preamp and then to the inputs on my recording interface.
