Newbies,listen up!

Most of what you read in this forum is pure shit. Most of the people that you
think are trying to help you,are actually trying to sell you something. It seems
that anyone that ever read some shit about isolation or room treatments, is
now a fucking expert.
I converted my garage into 2 great rooms for 800 bucks.A guy I talked to here wanted 2500 just to draw plans and give me some phone advice.
Let me clue you in on some of the bullshit you read here:
You dont need complete isolation to make a good recording. most pro studios dont have complete isolation.
You dont have to have a perfect mix environment,it is completely useless
if you dont know how to subjectively critique your own music.
Ahhh fuck it!Tired of typing.

Well isnt this helpful, my whole view on this forum has changed now.. thanks!

Oh wait a minute.. arent the people in these forums the people who saved me thousands when building my studio, to get the most effective products for the cheapest price? Yea.. i think they actually were... and i dont remember being bullied into paying for designs.. infact.. people layed out design after design.. for nothing!

Nothing is NEEDED in a studio apart from some form of sound recording or sound generating... all the things people tell you in these forums are to make your life easier... and your right.. most people here dont NEED isolated area's... but chances are they want to know how to make them for the future.. or maybe they do need them.. you try recording an entire band at the same time without isolated areas and see how easy it is to mix!

Anyway, your the type of person this forum doesnt need, and personally i dont know why i just wasted time on responding.. so...

end of.

I'll seell you a premade room 100% acoustically treated or you can buy my "treat it yourself" kit for 10% off. My premade room is $150,000 and well worth it. And to top it off I get all my expertise from this forum and have no schooling in the matter or done any of my own tests to prove what I'm doing is right. Call me now and we'll throw in a free mic stand.!

I told you damnit, I missed the decimal. It quoted you $25, not $2500.

In order to make it up to you I'll sell you some new plans I have for an ever lower price. Just $2.50. My neighbor's autistic kid drew it yesterday and its great.

You're not colorblind are you? Cause he did it in crayon and certain colors mean certain things.

Deal?

I copy nothing. If I want someone to read something, I use links. And yea, I never claimed to be an expert, but it doesn't take an expert to understand common sense. Unfortunately, some people lack even that. I just try to convey/interpret it the best way I know how. BTW, whens the last time you spent an hour drawing a solution for someone, hmmmmm Mr. Brilliant? At least I STATE my disclaimer. Which btw, you left off the last portion...."If a REAL expert finds my advice or solutions INCORRECT, please enlighten me, as thats how I learn as well....." which if memory serves me , I don't recall any such expert correction. And even if they did, so what? I gave a disclaimer in the first place.

And another thing,, I've NEVER tried to sell anyone anything here. On the contrary, I've spent over a 1000 hours on Autocad to post illustrations of "my" solutions for people on this board ...FREE. Which is more than you can say...so fuck off.

Wow. The bedroom I built in my garage cost me $3500 in 2002.

I built 143 sq ft of hallway and bedroom. The county assesed it at $12,000.

I spent more than $800 on tools for the project!

I gotta see pics of this $800 garage conversion.

Yeah,..... I'm not quite getting what the problem is.
You could probably do some decent work with $800, if you had
some sweet deals on materials and took your time planning it and assembling
the stuff you need. I didn't have the time/planning, But I did get some
used materials, and I ended up spending $3000 on my 12' X 11' pocket studio.
Advice here? plenty of good, very little bad. Lots of people that really
go the extra mile for no apparent reward other than the heartfelt thanks
of people like me, and the warm glow they must get from it.
Newbies - research this site well and you will garner a great deal of
on-the-spot advice.
cheers
C.

means the best studio ever built, but it is better than anything you have.
Wanna know why?Because your 18 yr old ass is still trying to learn shit that
I forgot 20 yrs ago.
I have a room within a room,floating floors,and no need for bass traps.Let

Chase,I'm not really trying to say that this forum is shit.I'm just pointing
out that there are folks that know how to talk about building a studio, and folks that have.I just think that the average newb gets more info than he
or she really needs.I know a guy with a 2" ampex that mixes in the same
room he tracks in.Guy makes great recordings.
Here is a bit of free advice:Fuck treating a room for mixing, take yer shit out on the patio, and mix it there. Why treat a fucked room when you can eliminate it?

Fancy giving us a link to the pics? Better than anything i have? I might have to agree with you, all i have at the moment is an unfinished shed and air-raid shelter...

Still trying to learn the shit you forgot 20 years ago? What might that be then?

I can understand how you got a room within a room, with floating floors for $800, i got a shed within a shed for less than that , and i know now that i could have done it a lot cheaper... But I am interested in how you don't need bass traps...
Is it just that you mix outside, like you suggested?
Is it that you designed it in such a way, with angled walls etc, that you wouldn't need them?
