Testing Acoustic and Bass

Well I used an sm57 for acoustic. Is this correct or would condenser mics be better? I had to record about a foot from the guitar cus it was picking up too much low end and making a bad hum. Why is that? Is it too much tube blend on my preamp? Too much gain? too much output? I dunno but I decided just move the mic.

Oh I forgot about the bass. I was just testing the levels and stuff thats why it sounds shitty.

My first suggest is that you have to learn about key/chords structure on a song and the function of a bass guitar (at least playing the same notes as guitar, if you don´t know what to do).
You are doing "anything/any note" with bass while guitar chords are played.

but, coming from you, I´m thinking (and not joking) that can be a sampler acoustic guitar ( I have a very similar on gigastudio, but I never use it).

Am I wrong?
