I have been thinking about buying the stereo splitter for my 4003, question is, is there anything special inside the box...or can I just make a Y cable ?? I've made the Y cables before, just not for a Ricenbacker. Has anyone had one apart? Thanks, Dave

It's just a stereo 1/4" plug with two 1/4" mono tails. If you can solder, you can make one easy. Once upon a time many years ago I used to do this with my 4001 into two Acoustic 450's. I got REAL tired of lugging all that gear around fast though. It's not like it's actual stereo, it just allows you to dedicate an amp to each pickup.

Been playing and soldering for 40 yrs. I just thought there was something special in that box, resistors, capacitors,...just to justify the cost.

I'm just glad to see another Ric owner.

I own a 370-12 string RIC. It has the Ric O Sound jack. I purchased that box. You really don't need it. A Y-cable will work.

My setup wasn't as cool as yours. It was a 4001 copy split to separate channels of an Acoustic 150 head (yeah, the guitar amp) and an Acoustic cab w/6-10s and different variations (Fender, Kustom, homebrew) of a 2-15 cab. If I heard it now, it would probably sound like crap, but boy, I thought it was hot sh*t at the time. |

Ahh...the old days. If you look hard to the right you can almost see the two 450's stacked up.
