What does everyone use to convert their wavs to MP3?
I got a program online that always worked fine, but now for some reason I can't figure out, it turns my tracks to nothing but staatic. What's a good MP3 conversion program?

CDEx
There's a program called CDEx that is for ripping CDs but one of the features is conversion from WAV to MP3 and MP3 to WAV.

This is one that integrates directly into Explorer. Just select a WAV, right mouse click and select convert option:

EAC and lame
Hi,
Just researched this. People are recommending Variable Bit Rate (VBR) mp3 files. Sound as good as the CD. Exact Audio Copy is EAC. That's the ripper. It also supports lame for encoding the mp3 files. Here's an article with instructions. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/arch...deneaclame.cfm And here's a link about running lame from the command line. http://jthz.com/mp3/ Thanks, Hairy Larry |

There are hundreds of programs that do this. Lame is a good codec and easy to find/download. Programs used the underlying codec and do their thing with it.
Most more, the difference in the result matters not to most. Unless you plan to play the result on a $1000 stereo, you will likely not ever hear the difference if you use reasonable bit rates. Picking the one that is easy to use and meets your $ goal are usually the initial considerations. MP3 formats do make some difference, as higher bit rate files (128KB or higher) will tend to sound better than low ones (less than 96KB for example) on even PC speakers or iPods. |

I use IMToo.... I also use that to convert mp3s to Wavs which I then load onto the MR8 and play along with them.
