Computer crapping out

I've been recording my friend's band lately and I'm running no than 8-9 tracks. 4 drums, 2 rhythm guitars, 1 bass and a vocal or two. No plugins are running, rather I have them directly on the .wav file. I've found sometimes the song likes to randomly start making weird noises and screwing up. Yesterday the guitarist was in the middle of a take when the drum tracks playing back to his phones started spazzing out. I can usually restart my computer and be fine. There is a little thing at the bottom of CEP that says "free space" and I find the lower the number, the more wonky it can get.

I'm recording to a drive that is 200 gigs, and I have plenty of space, so I'm not sure what the deal is. My computer is honestly nothing special...1.30gHz and 736 RAM. It's alright, never really given my any problems. Any ideas? The computer tends to get really hot and about 2 years had a bigger power supply put in. My dad bought it and regrets buying it from the place he did, because it's kind of sketchy.

So I'm not sure it's my computer or some sort of temp folder in Cool Edit that fills up.
