Alesis Multimix 6fx mixer

Hey there.

I have just ordered a bran new Alesis MultiMix 6fx mixer and I'm hoping it will be able to plug into my pc. How will I be able to do this?

I want to record a mic and guitar into my PC cleanly.

Without an interface, the MultiMix 6fx will not plug into a PC without a A/D interface. If it has to be Alesis, better choices would have been either the MultiMix in either the USB series-if you only need two channels at a time, or FireWire (if you need multiple channels simultaneously). Personally, I think in the price range for the USB and FireWire series of mixers, one can do better by looking at other brands for a A/D interface for computer recording.

A/D Interface = Analog/Digital Interface, the processor which converts an audio signal from analog to digital. There are two types, the dedicated A/D interface, models of which are made by Tascam, Edirol, E=mu, Motu, and a slew of others, and the multitasker--the mixer which also functions as an A/D interface. Of this type the Alesis, Yamaha, Mackey, Behringer and I don't know who all else are in the field. If you are planning to record to computer, you will have to have some type of A/D interface. But the Alesis MultiMix6FX is not one. The only outputs it has are strictly analog--either 1/4" TRS or RCA. If you plan to use Alesis for computer recording, you will have to return the MultiMix 6FX and exchange it for either one of the MultiMix xUSB or the MultiMix xFireWire models.
