Question Need some advise

First, here's the song. It's called Veils Of Mist.

I'm having kind of a problem with this song and I wanted some advise.

The problem is that one guitar plays chords and the other plays melodies all the way through, now when I listen back, the 'melody' guitar punches out of the mix more then the 'rhythm guitar.
Do you guys have any tips on how to make them sound equel in the mix?

What I am doing (now) is lowering the 'melody' guitar so it sounds even to my hears but the levels arn't the same and I have one channel that goes above the other in areas. This is what it is in this mix

So I tried doubling the 'rhythm' guitar on both tracks panning them out 100% then adding the 'melody' guitar in the center, this works pretty well but it totaly changes the guitar sound from what I had for my other songs which I don't want.

Hope that made sense.

I'm also looking for any other comments on the mix (and song).

Thanks in advance.

I don't really hear that problem from my speakers.
Have a look at the frequency overlap of the two guitars. Pull some of the freqs down in the melodic guitar & that should give the rhythm more of it's own space & level.

this is a pretty sweet song. what'd you get your bass drum to sound that way. sound fuckin sick. I think the guitars sound fine though good work.

Bring those drums up man... The guitar sounds like it has too much pressence, try lowering somewhere 5khz and above probably... Just search around. I have headphones on and it sort of hurts the ears.... Also, if you get rid of all the pressence, it may seperate the tracks a bit better.... I really like the epic keyboard style of this tune. Good writing man.
