So, I took my Porta02 mkII back for a refund and bought a 424 mkIII from a friend for the same price.
What a freakin' difference! Everything works great (who knew tape cue could be so fun?) Problem is, the STEREO and MONITOR outputs have some play (wiggle up and down). How much play is normal on these bad boys? I'm assuming none. How do I go about fixing them myself. They work for now, but I'm afraid that they might be tugging on something important on the circuitry inside. Any take-apart tips would be handy. Thanks for your help, guys! |

I just checked my 424mkIII, and the Line-Out and Monitor Outs have appx. 2-3mm play in the vertical direction,... but they move in tandem, as they're both attached to the same circuit board. I'd say, a little wiggle is okay, and the real test is that they pass signal properly & without intermittent connections.
