The Box...

Here's an older tune that has been sort of revamped with some cool players in it.....

Snake helped with some vox, and his guitar work, and Rabbit did me up some drums real nicely, to replace the drum machine. I just started mixing it, so it has a long way to go, but since they were kind enough to play, I thought I'd post it up.

The Box

And it's simply about a box of dog biscuits. I have a video somewhere, but that's a different story....

Hey Dogman,

The drums sound great that Rabbit has put together, maybe a little hot in the cymbal and high hat department but very in your face and vibrant!

The guitar tone for the rhythm sounds nice and phat, very fitting, the lead guitar is very highly loaded in the higher frequencies which comes across as very piercing which causes listening fatigue. I would drag some of the highs down and boost the mid lows to take some of the harshness away.

The lead vocals and the back up vocals need some separation to drag them apart to give the listener the chance to decipher between the lead vocal and back up vocal. Your vocals need to be bought more forward in the mix Dogman.

The whole mix just seems very congested in parts Dogman, but I know you will work your magic and get this happening!

How have you panned the rhythm guitar Dogman and is it a stereo track or just one track?

Sorry to rant Dogman!!

Gorty

I'D PULL THE CENTRE GUITAR DOWN A LITTLE & BOOST THE PANNED NOODLING.
I'd also do similar with the b/vox.
The cymbals did seem a little too far up front at the beginning but fit a few moments in.
I like the riff a lot but the leads seem a little rushed against it. Like the rhythm guitarist is a stoner & the lead player is on goee.
Snare sounds really good.
The outro is a deft touch too.
There's some work to do but the material to work with is goooodd.

Hey Dogman, this tune is too cool! It took me back a few years, and kind of had me thinking Killdozer meets Gwar. That must be one hell of a box of dog biscuits!

Cheers bro'!

Thanks guys....it's still in the early mixing stage, but I tired of it last night, and wanted to post something as Snake gave me his parts a long time ago. No eq, no verb, or really anything besides some compression on the vocals so far. I've done a little panning, but I have 4 guitars in it, and Snake has a couple, so I may need to thin that out a bit.

Thanks again, and hopefully I'll get her mixed up soon....

WOW...very cool tune! Mixing is good too. A bass track would polish this off very nicely.

Thanks David. Hoping to get a better mix soon, and maybe it will shine a bit more.

Thanks again.

This is cool. Just the sort of thing I like to listen to after work to just kinda drift off. I have paid good money for CD's that don't sound as good as this

You'll have to post the lyrics for us Ed... And the video when you're ready

Oh... And with my 'Brady Bunch' setup I have going (4 kids), I just bought a Mini Van... So now when we go on tour, we won't have to ride in the equipment truck...

Will there be groupies?

Hey, thanks guys...still working on a better mix.
Legionserial, thanks man...this was actually the first tune I did when I got back into doing music....about 2 years ago. Glad you liked it man....

Rabbit, I'll post up lyrics, and the video when I get it mixed better. It's actually hilarious....you get to see life inside my house....

And the only groupies I can have are my wife, and the petz. They should all fit though....

Sweet Dog! Sounding good. Sounds like you got all those guitar tracks lined up just right.

Mixwise, nothing really to add to what was already said.

Here ya go dog, I still have your lyrics to this for everyone who wanted to see them... fun stuff, had a good time with this one

The box is over there on the floor
I will stay and guard it all night
I wonder what's inside of the box
I won't let it out of my sight

The hunger burns from deep down inside
I am down here hidden just behind the door
The box is near, yet it seems so far
With anticipation I can't wait anymore

Footsteps coming from down the hall
As they near my heart starts to pound
The box is sitting there on the floor
I lie here not making a sound

The hunger burns from deep down inside
I am down here hidden just behind the door
The box is near, yet it seems so far
With anticipation I can't wait anymore

Will he ever open the box
Let me have what's inside the box
Please come and open the box
I need to have what's inside the box

Thumbs up

Hey Dogman,
The slow and thick rhythm guitar gives the song a good 'heavy' feel. I can't quite describe the mood I get from the song, but it's definitely unique (maybe its the dog biscuit I taste). Mix sounds great. Nothing to add to the comments above. Always a pleasure listening to your material...rock on!

I'm getting a dark image of a little kid waiting to open his presents on Christmas morning.

Good guitar sounds.

Mix sounds good, just a little boxy.

I'm surprised nobody said that already.

Thanks Tim.

Sounds very cool, kinda hysterical in a good way.

Nice effects, and cool preformances.

and the vox are not bad for a norwegian bastard
